slipping!!!
I lost my Dad 2 weeks ago on Sunday ... Have found myself slipping back into OLD habits.... Just NOT staying on program....I do NOT Dump and have No side effects of anything ... Noticed I was consuming too much wine and such before his passing but have a handle on that now so it seems... I just want to eat.....even when I am NOT really hungry....I have retained my 103 weight loss. I will celebrate 1 year sxversary on may 3.....Just needed to VENT!!! We are getting a dumpster delivered today and the cleanup begins......sweeping up the heart and storing away the memories! Been reading up on transfer addictions . Very aware that I am an excellent candidate for falling into this category!!! Need to reconnect with my WLS freinds!!1 You all have so much love and support!!!! HUGS P ROCK!
Times of extreme sadness, pain and stress can certainly lead us back into the old (i.e. compulsive) ways of dealing with things. You are very courageous and wise to see it and reach out for support. Sometimes I think I am the Queen of Tranfer Addictions. LOL. We do have a forum on OH, but being technically impaired, I'm not sure how to post the link.
Again, you did a great thing reaching out here. Keep doing that. Post through your feelings here and in any face-to-face support resources you can find.
You are in my thoughts today.

WLS 5/31/07. Maintaining a weight loss of 141 pounds and feeling amazing!
Pam,
So sorry about your Dad! We are always here for you when you need love, support or good swift kick in the butt!! Stressful times make it very easy to fall into old patterns. Like Julia said, you took the first step by posting here and asking for help.
Take care and keep in touch!
Love, Beth

Sorry to read about your loss and the sadness that is a part of what you are going through now. As has been said, these are the times when we go on autopilot and therefore old habits can creep in, sounds like you became aware of what it was you were doing and that is the good part of things.
I post on another forum here and recently started a thread to deal with the issues surrounding us as we progress further down the line, I entitled the post, Feelings and Emotional Eating because many of us, most especially when we get 2 and more years from our WLS have reverted to old patterns and suffer the consequences, we silently slither away because of guilt and shame, so stay connected here, talk about your feelings and how to get through them without resorting to old behaviors. This board is an awesome place for support.
Wishing you peace as you sort through your memories and remember your Dad is now your champion on high. . .
Hugs, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

I am cross addicted, and have been in AA for 21 years. Eating and drinking when I am have emotional problems, like loss, are my usual MO. I am so sorry for your loss, and how it i****ting you. I lost my baby brother six weeks post-op, and then my other brother 13 months later. Those deaths were part of my two year relapse with alcoholism.

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.
